Elze
Elze is a town with a population of almost 10,000 located in the west of the Hildesheim district in the Hanover–Braunschweig–Göttingen–Wolfsburg Metropolitan Region. Elze is a voluntary member of the Leinebergland Region, a network of several towns and communities in the south of Lower Saxony.
The town is situated by the Saale, a tributary of the Leine river. Its historic centre is characterised by 16th and 17th century half-timbered houses.
Major German supermarket chain Edeka is currently building a store on a 9,500 square metre plot in the centre of Elze, immediately opposite the town hall.
